Somehow I am just seeing this! Still getting used to Substack ~ but I read this on a day where it still felt right on time. Thank you, my friend. I feel the same about you 💕💕💕

It’s bittersweet hearing so many people be diagnosed with Autism in the late 20s, 30s+ because I can’t imagine living so much life struggling so (I’ve heard so many stories!!).

I’m so glad you’re still with us today! And you’re learning how to life a wonderful life you’re building for yourself, and that fits your needs.

I wasn’t 100% sure what your piece was going to be about, because I shared a post last Saturday about turning one (since my mom died). But I’m so glad you shared. I’m seeing more and more people talk about their late diagnosis--let me know if you ever want more people to watch or follow who talk or have talked about it!

Cierra, thank you so much for your sweet words - they mean so much to me! As hard as it is to have a late diagnosis, it's also been incredibly validating. That struggle of not knowing what you're doing wrong or why certain things don't come as easily to you subsided so quickly and I've found myself being more and more gentle with myself. I am so grateful for the wave of late diagnosis stories and how it's created a need for adult assessments. And yes, I'd absolutely love to get some recs on people to watch or follow who have talked about it!

I have to go check out your turning one piece now! I'm holding so much space for you and that one year mark since losing your mom <3 Sending you big love always

That makes me so happy to hear, Jenna! It's amazing what getting answers to things that just don't feel quite right for us can do for us (and how we treat ourselves)! This is one of the great sides of social media, when people share their experiences and it helping people feel less alone, and/or more brave!

And thank you so much for all the love and support as well!

Here's some pieces from people that came to mind off the top of my head who received late diagnoses:

Morgan Harper Nichols: https://www.instagram.com/morganharpernichols/p/CpKzE4Fra5L/?img_index=1

(And another from her, a video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyD32yaBCqs

Jam (they have a lot of autism with this as well when they used to post): https://www.tiktok.com/@thanksmilla/video/7080171443987778821?lang=en

Illymations animation on late diagnosis (she has a dating while autistic too that was interesting to watch!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3Vy2BPmMS4

And yeah! That's off the top of my head! Haha
