What if you write a letter to your future self?

Just the other day I put folks’ 2024 future-self letters in the mail. They wrote these letters at the beginning of 2023, put them in the mail and sent them to my studio P.O. Box for safe keeping with the promise they’d be mailed back at the beginning of 2024.
I was giggling and jumping — just so excited! Filled with anticipation for the folks who were about to get their letter back. I couldn’t contain myself so when I was dropping off the letters and a batch of planners I ended up telling the employee who was helping me about the project. He sweetly said, “I hope the return of their letters soothes them and provides them with comfort.”
Often folks forget they even wrote the letter, which is kind of the best part. Because then, out of the blue, here comes a time collapsed gift from the past…meeting them in the present. Sometimes people share their full circle experiences with me (I’d like to do some podcast interviews with folks who have participated to capture these stories!) and other times I never hear from them again. Both are fine and I always trust that the messages people write to their future selves always arrives right on divine time.
The Dear Self With Love Studio was born out of the future-self letter writing workshop I hosted in 2018 at Real Tinsel in Milwaukee, WI. This concept of connecting with your future-self and then being able to break the big vision up into smaller chunks is what inspired the hand-bound self-love planner and the newly created Goodnotes compatible digital planner (perfect for my international friends 😉).
I’m celebrating another year of this project, another year of collapsing timelines, loving our future-selves and infusing more self-love into each day and I want to invite you to celebrate with me this Saturday at my free future-self letter writing workshop!

Permission to carry 2023 goals into 2024! I had a goal of finishing my first quilt in 2023 and was pushing to finish it when I realized that I really wanted to change the direction I was going with it and needed some more time - and that’s okay!
I can’t stop listening to Orion Sun lately - Intro is my current dopamine song playing on repeat in our car and in my head lol
