Two weekends back I had the gift of sitting for my dear friend
as she gave me an auragraph reading. We logged on for an early morning zoom session and took some time to connect and blend our energies. Next, she read images and scenes for my present, past and future. As the images and scenes came to her she processed and interpreted the messages out loud with me. Then, several days later I received some of the images and symbols as artwork in the mail. The experience was grounding, nourishing and exactly what my spirit needed to help me process through some big changes. The metaphorical lens of working with images helped me enter a deeper level of understanding and self-compassion.
One of the images that came to KP while we spent time focusing on my present moment was this intricate popsicle stick weaving. Kind of like something that you would make at summer camp (I immediately remembered ones that I had made!) but amplified with finer materials like a soft blue leather cord instead of dollar store yarn for example.
This image of weaving came with the message that there is and energy of progress while simultaneously not moving forward. KP shared the greek mythology of Penelope with me to illustrate further. Penelope was determined to remain faithful to Odysseus even when others thought that he died at sea. Encouraged by everyone to find a new suitor she said she would choose a new husband after she finished her weaving. But every night she intentionally undoes the weaving to buy herself more time, awaiting Odysseus’s return.
This metaphor resonated so deeply with me, it is how I feel when I edge up against a growth point. Getting so close to the threshold of lasting change or project completion, and then I undo my weaving at night to buy myself more time in the comfort of how things already are. These moments are notoriously challenging for me, it’s right on the brink of major change that all my subconscious stuff comes out to play. My nervous system goes haywire. A deeper version of self-love and grounding down into myself is required.
As scary as growth can be, I want to keep weaving. I want to see what can be created through dedication, devotion and consistency. I want to be brave enough to not only embrace change but embody it on a cellular level.
I want to witness what the weaving looks like when it makes it to the morning.
With Love,
Jenna
What is a metaphor that’s recently found you? How did it resonate?
Is there an area of your life where you experience the sensation of making progress but know you’re not fully moving forward?
If there was one area of your life that you’d like to dedicate more focused energy to (aka finish the weaving!) what would it be? And why?
More light, longer days
All the good news and clarity that Taj received during her nephrology appointment last week :)
This Black Eyed Peas dance workout by Grow With Jo! It helps me pump cortisol out of my system so quickly and takes me back to early 2000’s lol
The dairy free cajun Alfredo I’ve been making this past week! The base is chickpea spaghetti (shout out extra protein and zero sodium!) with either blackened shrimp or chicken on top. Chopped parsley and sautéed red onions in the mix too. Yummm.
